JSWECE has developed a 300 MW high fidelity dynamic thermal power plant simulator which is a replication of 300 MW power plant units of JSW Energy at Vijayanagar (4x300 MW) and Ratnagiri (4x300 MW).

The 300 MW Operator Training Simulator (OTS) can be used for Process Design; Operating Strategy Development; Process Troubleshooting; and Regulatory, Sequencing and Supervisory control strategy testing. The simulator is a easy to use system with graphical displays and model building programs. The OTS system enables operators to learn the dynamics of the plant and validate the process control logics and evaluate possibility of de-bottlenecking in the existing plant or even before the plant is commissioned. This facilitates early plant start up and effective abnormal situation handling.

Operator Training Simulator Capabilities:

Operator Training

  • Improve understanding of general plant theory and concepts.
  • Increase knowledge of plant systems and their function and interaction with other systems.
  • Enhance understanding of plant control theory and operation.
  • Gain operating experience, confidence and accuracy in normal and abnormal plant operations.
  • Provide practice following specific operating procedures.
  • Demonstrate recovery from various upsets and malfunctions.

Control Analysis, Configuration and Tuning

  • Develop and conduct control system analyses.
  • Troubleshoot problems that may occur on the actual plant controls.
  • Test control design changes before implementing them in the actual plant.
  • Pre-tune new control loops.
  • Tune emergency control loops without risking plant operation.

Engineering

  • Evaluate equipment line-up changes.
  • Perform simple de-bottlenecking studies by eliminating key constraints.
  • Evaluate alternative operating procedures.
  • Perform 'what-if' studies.
