JSW Energy Limited (JSWEL) is the dynamic vertical of JSW Group. The company plans to foray in all areas of
power: Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Trading. In less than a decade of its operations
the company has crossed several milestones working on power solutions in the States of
Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. Besides power generation, JSW
Energy is venturing into manufacturing of supercritical boilers. This is a joint venture project
between JSW Energy and Toshiba coming up at Chennai.
JSW Energy was first set-up at Vijayanagar as an IPP with a capacity of 260 MW. the plant is currently under expansion to 1200 MW at a fast pace. It is executing a 4x300 MW power plant at Toranagallu, Bellary. The expanded capacities will provide a thrust to the vision of the company.
Projects are now under implementation in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra. Raj WestPower Limited (RWPL), promoted by JSW Energy is a Rs. 5000 crore project at Bhadresh, district Barmer. The project plans to generate 1350 MW (10 x 135 MW) of power which will be supplied to the distribution companies (Discoms) in Rajasthan. In Maharashtra under implementation is a 1200 MW (4 x 300 MW)
Power project located at Jaigarh, district Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. JSW envisages making Jaigarh, a port based power plant by setting up a port facility and making it a full-fledged business centre in coming years. JSW Energy has marked its entry into Himachal Pradesh. JSW Energy is setting up Hydro Power Project at Kutehar, River Chamba, which will generate 260 MW power valued at Rs. 1700 crore.
As India makes its crucial transition from a developing to a developed economy, there will be a rapidly growing demand for energy. JSW Energy is putting in sincere efforts towards enabling the vision of empowering Inda with its power needs.
